Reaching its highest level since October 2000, the Japan's Nikkei 225 stock tops 16,000 points Monday rising 166.30 points, or 1.04%. It’s finished the day's trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange at 16,107.67 points. The broader Topix index obtains 11.05 points, or 0.67%. It reaches 1,648.94. It’s the Topix's highest closing since May 2000. Yahoo Japan Corp. gained 3.23% to 160,000 yen and Softbank Corp. rose 3.01% to 13,360 yen. The owner of 7-Eleven convenience stores in Japan and the United States, Seven and I Holdings Co., also advanced. It happens after declaiming, that it will pay 131.1 billion yen for department store operator Millennium Retailing Inc. in a bid to create Japan's largest retailer. Seven and I Holdings gained 11.34% to 4,910 yen. Millennium Retailing rose 0.48% to 2.08 million yen.
